Botox Isn’t Just for the Forehead

Alright, ladies, when you think about Botox® you envision a smooooth forehead, right? Enough with the forehead! 😂 Neurotoxins don’t get enough credit for all the magic they work on other areas of the face and neck. These areas play a big role in how we show our true age or express emotion. If your Aesthetic Injector is an equal opportunist in the toxin department, then they are spreading the love when it comes to treatment areas. Let’s delve into the versatility of Botox!

Naturally, the forehead is one of the first things you notice about someone since it literally takes up a fourth of their face. The skin of the forehead is constantly shifting as it accommodates for various expressions throughout the day. Pesky wrinkles like worry lines only deepen with age, stress, (kids 👶🏻🤣), and other external factors. As these wrinkles deepen and become more noticeable, many people come to me for the miracle cure of Botox. While Botox is an effective anti-aging treatment for forehead wrinkles,I think that overloading one spot on your face with neurotoxin can be even more noticeable than the original wrinkles themselves. Glass is for windows, not faces!

My advice? Less is more and start your treatments sooner rather than later. We all understand forehead wrinkles will eventually become a problem, so why not get ahead of the problem early on? Even so, many of us wait until the wrinkles have set in and then try to double up on toxin injections. In this blog, I’ll cover a range of treatment areas 💁🏻‍♀️ for a more balanced and natural result with toxins like Botox® or Dysport®.

Botox for Younger-Looking Eyes

Your eyes are one of the first things others notice about you. Unfortunately, skin in this area is thinner and more delicate than other areas of your face. This is why wrinkles tend to appear sooner around the eyes. To add to the burn, you will also notice your brows beginning to droop more and more with age. This combination will add years to your appearance and is the bane of my existence. That being said, the eyes are one of my all-time favorite areas to treat with Botox. Here’s why using Botox to treat eye-aging issues like crow’s feet and drooping brows can vastly improve your appearance for a more youthful look.

Lateral Brow Botox

Drooping brows can easily be addressed with Botox, but maybe not in the way you think. You would think relaxing the forehead muscles with neurotoxins would prevent the downward pull of your brow and help provide a natural eyebrow lift right? However, Botox in this area can actually prevent brow movement, creating that frozen “Botox” look.

A better method for addressing drooping or creasing brows is to inject the neurotoxin into the lateral brow just below the tail of your eyebrow. The orbicularis oculi muscle surrounds the eye and relaxing the lateral brow area causes the brow to lift. Best of all, you’ll still have the ability to raise your eyebrows for a more natural-looking result. CAUTION: injecting Botox too close to the brow and in the wrong area will have the opposite effect and cause you to look angry. It’s not cute, so go to an injector with extensive experience treating patients with Botox around this area.

Botox for Crow’s Feet

Crow’s feet are a tell-tale sign of your age and something we all must deal with, unfortunately. However, 2-3 quick injections of Botox can help solve crow’s feet, can help relax wrinkle-causing muscles, and smooth out the areas around your eyes. As I’ve said before, the eyes are one of my favorite places to treat because the results are rather immediate and addressing sore spots like crow’s feet can take years off your age.

Contouring the Jawline with Neurotoxins

Unhappy with the shape of your jaw? Ladies, there’s an easy fix! Many women feel that their jawline is more masculine than they’d like it to be. The good news is, Botox can help. Did you know neurotoxins can sculpt and contour the face? When it comes to jawline contouring, the masseter muscle is one that aids in chewing, and it contributes greatly to the shape and overall appearance of the jaw. Botox injections in this muscle helps to soften the shape of the jawline, contouring the jaw and slimming the face to create a more feminine, ❤️ heart-like appearance. Relaxing the masseter muscle with repeated Botox injections over time will also weaken the muscle, which will make it smaller and more aesthetic. Many clients love the results and continue to come back every 3-4 months for routine maintenance. This isn’t permanent, so, if you don’t love your new jawline, we’ll simply let the Botox wear off and avoid this area in the future.

Say Goodbye to Neck Wrinkles

When you want to wear that little black dress with the plunging neckline, those neck wrinkles ( ) might make you think twice. That shouldn’t be! You may be relieved to know that Botox can also kick that aging neck to the curb. 40-50 units of Botox in the platysma muscle will relax the skin and jowls to smooth out neck wrinkles. It also minimized the appearance of platysmal bands, (AKA Nefertiti lines) leading to an overall younger appearance in the neck area.

Less is More with Forehead Botox at Art of Injection

While Botox can address a wide range of aging issues on the face and neck, the forehead is still the most common site for treatment. The key to successful Botox treatments in this area comes down to technique. A lot of injectors will overdo it in certain areas, particularly on the ‘elevens’ area of the forehead, which leads to stiff, unnatural appearance. Here at Art of Injection, I say less is more. I prefer to treat my Botox patients with a little less toxin in more places to encourage subtle, more natural-looking results.

Treatment areas listed above like crow’s feet, brows, jawline, and neck are huge contributors to aging. Treating these areas with Botox in combination with subtle forehead injections, will leave you with a more balanced look.

I want you to look and feel your best when you visit Art of Injection, which means doing everything I can to prevent the appearance of having “work” done.
