Stage 1 of Facial Sculpting: Kybella for That Double Chin!
Alright friends, let’s talk about double chins and the amazing advancement in aesthetic medicine known as Kybella™. In case you haven’t had a chance to read, “The 4 Stages of Facial Sculpting,” Stage 1 is:

How Does Kybella™ Work?
Kybella™ is an injectable that permanently dissolves fat pockets. Kybella is a non-human, non-animal derived version of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring enzyme found in all of us that helps break down fat and absorb it. Kybella™ is safe when injected by a trained medical professional. This treatment is useful for drastically improving the facial profile by permanently eliminating submental fullness under the chin and other areas of the body. The process sculpts small areas of fat and creates a small amount of inflammation that is associated with minimal skin tightening. For the first week post-treatment the treated area will swell up, but slowly dissipate over the next couple of weeks. Why is Kybella™ Stage 1?
If you want to experience the best possible results from facial sculpting, then we have to start with a clean slate. Sometimes you have to take away before you can add. We need to eliminate excess fat under the chin or jowls so that we can dose correctly when it comes to Botox® and filler injections. After Kybella™ does its magic and gives you a more pronounced chin/jawline and slimmer facial profile, we might not actually need as much filler or Botox® as we initially thought. Eliminating excess facial fat will give an expert injector the advantage of building upon your defined facial features like your chin and jawline with more accuracy.
Why Do I Have a Double Chin?
😥 *Sigh, mostly, you’re just getting older and your body is producing fewer and fewer hormones/enzymes that burn fat naturally. However, there are many factors that contribute to double chin formation, like: alcohol, poor diet with heavy preservative consumption, recent weight loss or gain, lack of exercise and genetics. That’s right, it might not even be your fault. Genetics play a big role in how and where our bodies choose to store fat over time. The key is to address it sooner than later. The bigger the double chin = the more Kybella™ treatments you will need.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Kybella™ affects everyone differently, but the number of treatments needed usually depends on the amount of fat present at the time of treatments. Most patients need 1-3 treatments, but more severe cases may need 4-6.
How Long Does Kybella™ Last?
Kybella™ permanently dissolves the fat cells in the treated area, as long as you don’t gain weight and create new fat cells, then your results will be permanent. Kybella begins to work about 3 weeks post-treatment. Patients may continue to see results up to 6 months post treatment. Patients must wait at least 30 days between treatments.
Am I a Good Candidate for Kybella™?
